Update on Izzy

So the good news is that she has a congenital defect on her kidney and it's not cancer. The bad news is that she also has tapeworm. I was told she got that by eating a flea. Question is, How did she get a flea in her belly? Neither of the kitties had fleas the last time I checked. I guess I'm checking again... She seems to be feeling better for now. I'm just glad that we didn't have to do a biopsy on her kidney.

In other news, Paul and I went to the A's vs. Yankees game last night. Guess who was sitting a few rows behind us? This guy.

What's he doing up in Oakland? Isn't the WWE in LA or something? Some crazy fan got his shoe signed, then walked around carrying his shoe and showing a bunch of people. Which leads me to ask, What's so dang important about someone's signature? John Cena is not going to remember you. And now you've ruined your shoe. Plus, chances are that your shoe is going to get dirty and smudged and that autograph is going to fade. So I ask again, What's the big friggin deal about autographs? Leave the poor guy alone and let him watch the game.

Izzy

I am so sad right now. As it turns out, my beloved Izzy has some kidney problems. It's serious enough that the vet wants me to come into the office to talk versus talking on the phone. The cost is also really high; the cost was around $2000 when I went on Saturday. Money is a bit tight right now with our wedding and gifts for other weddings, which causes some extra anxiety. I'm so worried about her. I just want my cuddle bug back.

UPDATE: She is at home now but has some major kidney problems. One kidney is really small and atrophied; it could have been a congenital defect. The other kidney is super huge and overcompensating for the messed up one. But the good kidney is also starting to fail. So she stayed at the vet's office all weekend, got various kinds of tests and hydrated with IV fluids. We have another appointment on Monday to do an ultrasound and check her kidney levels again. We want to get down to the bottom of this. What caused her kidney failure? Is it cancer? Depending on what the outcome of the ultrasound, she may also need a biopsy. Isn't this just NUTS? My poor kitty. She is too young and sweet to be going through all this.

When we went to into the office this morning, we talked to the doctor first, then we were able to see her. My darling Izzy sat right up, nuzzled me, and was purring as soon as I picked her up and held her. The staff also mentioned how sweet she is. I wish I was at home with her now instead of at work. Izzy will be getting a lot of attention the next few days. Maya will probably get jealous since she's been getting all the love while Izzy's been away!
